Music Director

BJ Whitehouse and his wife, Christine Ariel

B.J. Whitehouse serves as the much-appreciated Music Director for the Jamestown Community Chorus.

B.J. graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelors of Music Education a long time ago and went on to earn a  Master of Arts in Teaching from Rhode Island College.

He has served as the director of the Jamestown Community Chorus since 1989 and has also acted as choral director at a number of local churches.   B.J. teaches general and choral music at the Wilbur/McMahon Schools in Little Compton where he has taught grades K-8 since 1988. Prior to that he taught music at the Block Island (RI) School  for four years.

B.J.  is an active community member, including being a Rocket Dawg (volunteer member of the Jamestown Fireworks Committee) for 12 years. In addition, he is an elected member of the Jamestown School Committee. He  has worked with a number of community arts organizations and makes his home in Jamestown with his wife, Christine Ariel.

B.J.’s master’s thesis was on the history of the JCC and is available at the Jamestown Philomenian Library.
